"Three Farthing Stone" (Shortcut to Mushrooms tribute)
Three Farthing Stone is an english crossover blend that is both sweet and somehow rich and savory. The inspiration is the old "Shortcut to Mushrooms" blend that is long discontinued. It took over two months and a lot of pipefuls to pick apart the original flavor profile, but it was an all time favorite of mine, so I was determined to get this tribute correct. It has virginias, burleys, cavendish, and rich cyprian latakia with a unique sweet top dressing.
Ive now had four pipesfolk that loved the original Shortcut to Mushrooms tell me this nearly IDENTICAL to the original, with many others enjoying it who didnt get a chance to try Shortcut, as it sells out every time I make a batch.

Great blend! Tin note is exactly the same as the old Shortcut, earthy yet sweet at the same time! Topping is not overpowering and the Latakia comes through very nicely. I thick, chewy smoke that leaves a very pleasant aftertaste and wonderful room note. Tin art is out of this world, will definitely buy again, thank you for this blend!
I was pleasantly surprised of how good this blend is. It’s like the first review said, super smooth and full flavor. I had to smoke two bowls back to back on this one. It’s the perfect level of sweetness and it smokes the same from start to finish. It was a tad moist out of the tin. I followed the previous review’s advice and let it sit out for 15 minutes before I packed it. It smoked all the way through with no relight’s. I went ahead and grabbed two more tins. 5 out of 5 on this one!
This is a tasty English blend. It's very smooth, has your traditional English flavor, with some added sweetness that makes this an incredible smoke. Comes out of the tin a bit moist, but 15 minutes in the tray before loading did the job. Do yourself a favor and try this blend. This will appeal to English smokers and aro smokers a like.
I picked up two tins, cracked the first, and this is a GREAT evening smoke. Frankly, it will work any time, but I grabbed several more tins to stockpile and cellar for future enjoyment. I'm really enjoying it! It's sweet, but in a natural, non-cloying way, and I get great comments from any passer-by who gets a whiff of it. Note: you want to dry it a bit as it came to me rather moist...but that's easily addressable by leaving it out to "breathe"...like a fine wine!
Spectacular flavors. A touch of sweet with a rich full flavor. Wish I had purchased more as I do every time I make a purchase of a Ravenwood blend!
