Spring 2025

Bison Burley : Bison Burley is a good portion of raw, nutty, chopped, straight dry cured burley, and virginia. I take some of the burley and virginia, gave it a light sweet casing and toasted it to "carmelize" the blend. The result is varied shades of leaf, and a straightforward partly raw burley mix with some toasted sweetness.

Brandywine Bridge : This is an aromatic through and through. Using a Japanese plum casing from Natures Flavors this blend gives notes of sweet plum and light caramel (NOT at all like Plum Cake or Royal Yacht, which have a wine like essence). Think a fresh ripe plum minus the tart of the skin.

BristleCone : A blend for the Twins Smoke Shop! Bristlecone has burleys, virginia, and condimental amounts of latakia, kentucky, and toasted dry black cavendish. Expect notes of woody cedar and nuts, with wisps of smoke and sweet.

Dread Pirate Roberts : Red Virginia and Perique navy ribbon. Expect notes of medium fullness reds, warm perique, and a semi sweet malted beer and barley flavor.

Eleventh day Of Christmas (2024) : Straight orange and brown virginia. mahogany and dark brown virginia, hay, and a touch of ripe oranges; non~aromatic. There is no casing applied, there is no top dressing applied. There is an “essence” that enhances the orange virginia leaves, bringing them to the front.

Frog Mortons Chalet : An english crossover blend with cyprian latakia, orientals, virginias, burleys and toasted cavendish. Expect a smooth and rich english base with notes of toasted almonds, vanilla, and a bit of botanical spice from the light orientals.

Gates of Argonath : notes of woodsy orientals, dark bread and musty earth. Some might find some notes of gingerbread and natural sweetness as well. But make no mistake this is a full bodied english Balkan!

Hobbits’ leaf : A classic! Using the now discontinued Lane Limited Dark Red which has a deeper cherry note with a touch of chocolate as opposed to the traditional "cough syrup" cherry taste. I add a few other components to create this classic mixture. Light velvety cherry, mellow vanilla, and a hint of cocoa. Reminiscent of “cheerwine”.

Leaves of Athelas : 100% Oriental leaf! Expect tasting notes of mellow herbs, tea, cedar and earth. It smokes very cool; buttery with very slight hints of olive oil and incense. A true melange of oriental leaf. This is a delicate blend for the more experienced of pipesfolk. Smoke slowly to experience the nuances.

Midnight dreary : The one that started it all! Midnight Dreary is a straighforward medium English, made with the finest aged syrian leaf (wellauers), orientals, and virginias. My intent was to create a blend that "tipped the hat" toward two old McClelland blends ~ Samovar, and McCranies Old Syrian.

Morning Pastry : A mix for the morning! In the vein of old codger blends, expect tasting notes of slightly sweet dark oats, bakery bread, donuts, and of course good old baccy.

MOOse Marmalade : an aromatic mixture ~ Remisicent of the classic citrus jam, enjoy hints of warm orange and tangerine notes, while retaining some tobacco flavor from the burleys and virginia.

  • Nepenthe : Nepenthe is a balanced but oriental forward english balkan blend. It has turkish, virginias, cyprian latakia, and a touch of toasted cavendish to smooth the edges. Expect earthy cedar notes, rich latakia, and spicy orientals with a buttery, savory piquancy.

Sankara Stone : A smooth and lighter oriental with a touch of sweetness. Oriental grades, virginia, a dash of latakia, and a dash of cavendish. Expect a cool smoking experience with whispers of dark chocolate and java.

Sommersende : SommersEnde is simple but straightforward virginia / perique mixture. I’ve taken bright, medium brown, and mahogany virginias, ribbon cut. I then add a generous portion of some really special figgy perique. You won’t find any spice or black pepper here, this perique is mellow, with flavors of stone fruit, figs, and dried prunes.

Swiftcurrent Lake: Swiftcurrent Lake is a sweet virginia / burley / cavendish blend that tastes of lightly sweet carmel & nutty granola from the burley. Its has virginias for depth, burleys for body, and some toasted cavendish to help the smolder and add a little extra sweetness. A great blend if you cant decide what to smoke!

The Idol : A blend of golden lemon virginias from North Carolina, burleys, toasted cavendish, and a lightly sweet honey essence. A perfect smoke at the end of a long summer day, or after an adventure in the jungle!

Three Farthing Stone : Three Farthing Stone is an english crossover blend that is sweet, rich and savory. The inspiration is the old "Shortcut to Mushrooms" blend that is long discontinued. It has virginias, burleys, cavendish, and rich cyprian latakia with a unique sweet top dressing.

Wytchthorn : My yearly Halloween concoction from the cauldron! Wytchthorn is a rich crossover english blend;  fragrant and perfect for the chilly autumn months, expect notes of sherried spices, toffee, spirits, smoke and cedar.
