Eleventh Day of Christmas 2025 ~ Straight orange and mahogany virginia broken flake
 
I always enjoyed the years of McClelland Christmas cheer that were made with orange, and red-orange virginia leaf. They were sweet, pungent, and unique.
 
Once again this year we have here a flake reminiscent of that special yearly celebration. Eleventh Day of Christmas this year is a broken, straight orange and dark brown mahogany virginia flake.
 
Tasting notes are of of dark brown baked bread, oats, orange peel, and orange essences; non-aromatic. No top dressing is applied, and the essence is applied indirectly to the flake to just give it hints of orange and tangerine on the nose. This year the process was refined, and the flakes are at the perfect moisture and will take the match right out of the tin.
